The proudly non-technical person of the company, Craig’s initial experience has been gained in the UK merchant banking space and then through Deloitte & Touche in Johannesburg. Further formative experience was gained in the outsourced back-office realm, before moving to the corporate sales-side of an interest rate trading position which he occupied for a number of years. Craig was a formative member in the creation of Fundamental, and has been accountable for the bottom-line delivery since inception. A champion of the outdoors he enjoys spending time on two wheels (motorised and other), and off-shore fishing whenever time allows.

Joining Fundamental in November 2006 as the formative member of Fundamental’s product specialist team, Janene was initially horrified to find that she had joined a company wholly without a structured quality assurance aspect! She has been instrumental in the creation of this exceptional group of people, which has been a key driver to Fundamental’s success. Janene comes from a background in back-office administration before crossing over to the realm of software development quality assurance approximately 10years ago. A confirmed bean-addict, Janene spends her non-work hours (of which there are scarily few) gardening, reading and spending time with friends.

Trevor was raised and schooled in Cape Town, and studied further at UCT. A distinguished software developer, Trevor has been key to many financial software applications through the (many) years of his career. Most significant has been his contribution to the creation of Interlink (which over time became South Africa’s dominant multi-manager administration platform) and more recently his involvement with Fundamental where he is our current development manager. Opinionated and assertive, Trevor is a self confessed wine connoisseur with further interests in motor-racing, yachting and cycling. He is also the regular convener of the Fundamental Poker Challenge, a highlight among developers.

Andre started his career in the US with an S&P500 consulting firm, working with various dot com and Fortune 500 companies. After implementing solutions across a wide variety of technologies and industries for number of years, he decided to focus on the asset management industry. Andre arrived back on South African shores to join a small yet promising entity called Fundamental and helped define the portfolio manager product from its humble beginnings to what it is today! The hours when Andre is not embattling the latest Fundamental challenge is spent flying around a frizbee park, fiddling on a guitar, painting a new masterpiece or (unsuccessfully) fishing the Western Cape.

Coming from an advanced web-development background, Amy Joined Fundamental initially as a developer at the beginning of 2006. From there her rise has been aggressive, as she moved from a developer, to Senior Developer and on to her current position of Project Manager. With a keen eye for detail, Amy was the ‘finisher’ on the rollout of Fundamental’s Version 2.0 to one of our primary clients, Regarding Capital Management. Given the combination of her technical background as well as product knowledge, Amy adds significant value across the company, fulfilling a key pre-sales role, and offering assistance to the support team in addition to her Project Management commitments. Amy is a keen mountainbiker and outdoor enthusiast.

Andre has 18 years of IT experience of which 14 of those were spent in the Banking/Finance arena. He spent 7 years in London and Brussels working for international banking giants ABN-AMRO, Sumitomo and Nikko banks before gaining further experience working for an UK outsourced banking solution company. Andre’s career really took off when he came back to South Africa and joined (a very young Fundamental). Committed, enthusiastic and incredibly positive, Andre is currently accountable for the management of Fundamental’s Support Consultants, and is therefore very active in the client space. An active father and champion of the outdoors he enjoys cycling and surf skiing.

Craig was raised in Cape Town and completed a B.Comm at UCT in 1994. He spent a number of years in the UK contracting for Investment Banks prior to returning home. An interest in finance and software, saw Craig join an investment solutions software provider, in 1999. This entity changed hands a number of times before settling into its current guise. Craig fulfilled a broad range of operational functions within the organization (ranging from Pre-Sales to HR related). Craig has recently joined Fundamental in the capacity of Chief Operating Officer; a role which, given Fundamental’s aggressive growth, will be critical toward our future success in South Africa and beyond. Shrouded in mystery and more than a little like the legendary Stig, he harbours claims of ‘being born on the Twelfth Night when the Wild Hunt rides’. Enough said. Germanic in upbringing, schooling and orientation, Eckhard joined Fundamental in 2006 as a senior developer.

From an early career in the design and coding of marine surveying systems, Eckhard moved into the financial realm approximately 13years ago, working initially with one of our competitors. Thankfully he saw the light, moved across to Fundamental, and now is accountable for the architectural framework of the application. No mean feat.
